This is the closest Brampton will get to having a little taste of Britain. It is the best fish and chip I have had since back home. The cod light batter and chip are to die for. Their chicken pot pies and chip are also a good bet for those who don't like fish. The breaded chicken strips are amazing as well, you can get alone with chips or in a wrap. The menu is very extensive for a fish and chip place. Beats Heritage Fish and Chip by far. Gott's the fish is fresh, bigger and more value for your $$$. The service is good, the employees know their stuff and make recommendations if you are not sure. I have been many many many times and the service and the food is always the same - really good! The only thing I find wrong is that all the Mary Brown locations close at 2100 NOT 2300 as shown in the Yellow Pages. Other than that I urge you to try their fine food. Although they're famous for their chicken, we'll be going back for their fish (and maybe try the chicken for my 'no way I'm eating fish' husband). My son and I were looking for a quick bite for lunch after doing some shopping at the nearby Scholars Choice and found this place. Smelled soo good. As we didn't see a lot of prices or labels, my son ordered the Portuguese sausage sandwich and I lingered over the windows filled with mountains of fish, rice, potatoes and was served by a very pleasant and helpful young man. I asked about a particular dish and ended up ordering the amazing looking and super delicious cod with a side of potatoes, The server put two layers of potatoes in a good sized container, covered it with the huge portion of cod and then he began spooning a loving amount of the yummy sauce over the dish. As it really isn't a sit down place, we were hungry and ate there. I paid less than $20 and was in heaven. My son enjoyed his sausage but will definitely order the cod next time. Was surprised to read about 'grumpy' servers. Ours even thanked us for coming on our way out. Maybe because it was in the early Friday afternoon, we saw that customers were served quickly (looked like they ordered huge quantities ahead) and courteously. Definitely going back for that cod. This place is awesome!!! The restaurant is small but cozy. There was only 1 woman running the show up front and it got quite crowded by late afternoon, but I was impressed by her level of service. We had the mango salad which was bursting with flavor and very originally put together. Even my wife agreed it was deserving of 5 stars. Pho Dau Bo is probably the only Vietnamese restaurant in Bram-Bram that does not trace its history to the original Pho Peter (my favourite) in some way. This eatery is part of a small chain covering Golden Horseshoe that opened way back in 1996. The Brampton location is a relatively new one having opened in 2006 but going strong. The food here is good, very good. The portions are generous, unless you haven't eaten for a month or have the metabolism of a cheetah, this is a meal in a bowl. The waitresses are courteous. No attitude here. When asked for extra ganish it was brought promptly and with a smile, unlike the downtown Toronto eateries where I was given the impression that they had to fight an ill-tempered chef for it and, even after winning the battle, it came out of their paycheques. The pho is hot and tasty, the way it should be. The garnishes are fresh, not brown and wilted like something ready for the compost pile. The meat is lean and there is lots of it. All in all, pho worth writing to the rellies about. For a Vietnamese restaurant the decor/atmosphere is fine. Don't expect a fancy place but do expect good food. After a couple of visits, this place is definitely threatening to unseat my fave. Lire plus

While driving around the scenic Caledon Hills with two friends, we stopped for lunch at Tom's Family Restaurant. The service was warm and friendly, the atmosphere comfortable and relaxing, and the food was perfect for our needs - we didn't want an upscale, fancy restaurant, just a casual, friendly place with good food. I had some of the best fish & chips I've ever had. I couldn't resist trying the homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie, and it didn't disappoint - it was heavenly!
